Generally, in the poorest countries there is no form of public assistance, and the weakest most vulnerable people often find themselves alone, without support, and in desperate conditions. They cannot buy food, clothes, medicines, or pay rent for a room. The “adoption” of an elderly, sick or disabled person restores human dignity, hope and peace of mind to those who have none.
